☆CHARACTER
Character Name: Sparks Nevada
Age: Adult. Late 30s?
Species: Human
Canon: The Thrilling Adventure Hour
Canon Point: Crisis on Infinite Marses Part 1, before his job offer
Character Info: He's...... from Earth
Personality: A good western hero is gruff, can be a little harsh and seem uncaring at times, but always has his heart in the right place. He doesn't have to be anyone's pal, he may even make a few enemies with his refusal to play by anyone's rules, but in the end his determination to do what's right by him saves the day and rides off into the sunset.

Now get rid of those last six words, and you've got Sparks Nevada. It's all well and good to put saving the day before making nice with people, but when you're the marshal on Mars, that means you don't get to ride away at the end--you've got to stay and deal with the consequences of what happened, and what you've done. Unfortunately, that difference is one Sparks just can't seem to get around, and long-term planning of most any sort eludes him.

The man is an impatient sort, rarely inclined to put up with the quirks and peculiarities of those around him. He won't think twice before interrupting someone else, or slipping in his own two cents well before it's his turn to speak. He can't stand overly long explanations, hates redundancies and predictable sentence structure. If anyone's going to give a big speech with lots of dramatic pauses, it's going to be him. But only when it's, you know, needed. He knows when the time is right, just trust him on this, okay?

Still, the truth is that he puts the protection of his planet and his duties above all else. As much as he grumbles and gripes, Sparks can't feel complete without a badge to give him purpose, and let him know he's needed in this world. His world is his job, and without it, he doesn't know what to do with himself. Nothing comes before his need to do right, and his emotional unavailability preoccupation with righting outlaw wrongs has lead more than a couple relationships to ruin. The good side of this is it takes a lot to get under his skin, and no amount of goading or threatening is going to get him to lose his head. Still, he reacts poorly to criticism, and generally disregards any and all unwanted advice, regardless of well-meaning or not.

Of course he cares for people, but he only knows how to show it through protecting the planet and the people on it. Isn't that more important than being, y'know, good at chatting, or hanging out, or whatever? Of course it is. Right? Yeah. Well, okay, it might be nice to... y'know, not be marshal, someday. Settle down, enjoy life, just take the time off and have some nice, normal, non-outlaw-based relationships with people, but... that's for a time when all the planet's been made safe. And that's not for a while yet.

In essence, Sparks is a hero, but he knows he's the hero, and that can make him a bit of a pain in the ass to deal with some... well, all of the time. Being genre savvy doesn't save you from pissing everyone off.

☆INTERSTELLAR
Chosen Powers: He's a vanilla human.

Chosen Equipment: Sparks has his own equipment to use:
  • 30 MP: His laser pistol, a six-shooter, which with he claims to be the fastest draw. This is debatable.
  • 30 MP: His trademark robot fists (pow). They're essentially strength enhancers, most often used to punch out the most ornery robot rogues he comes across. He's never used them on an organic individual at full strength, but it's implied the force of such a punch would be lethal to anyone without healing abilities. The fists also allow access to hack technological devices, at a level equal to the user's own hacking prowess.
  • Lastly, he has his lasso, which is powered by a wormhole. It can suck up and spit out things, but it's not meant to function as any sort of storage unit or the like. It's simply designed to help wrangle up floods or similar; likely it won't be of any use in-game, but still worth mentioning.

Relevant Skills: As a lawman of the wildest and most lawless planet of the western sector of space, Sparks is well used to dealing with alien lawbreakers and robot rogues. As much as he's ready for a showdown, he's also ready to tie up more blue collar-type crime in so much paperwork and litigations their heads will spin. He's a man who knows his space laws, and while he's used to keeping to Mars, and sometimes Earth and its moon, he's no stranger to interdimentional shenanigans either.
Character Goals: The man's here because it's part of his job. Santiago and Blanche are wanted for over 60 cases of space-kidnapping and identity rustling, as well as dangerous amounts of musical radiation storage that is neither authorized nor remotely up to code, and a whole mess of other crimes. One way or another, Sparks is determined to get them into space-jail.
